This spell opens a portal to the Lower Planes and calls forth a Balor Lord to assail your foes. The demon follows your commands and engages enemies you designate until the spell's duration ends or it is destroyed. The strength of this conjuration is such that the demon is bound to your will, and you need not have cast Protection from Evil, or any similar spell, to prevent him from attacking you.
